“We claimed 120 mph (for the XK 120), a speed unheard of for a production car in those days.” – William Heynes, Chief Engineer, Jaguar Cars.

The Jaguar XK120 was manufactured by Jaguar between 1948 and 1954 and was Jaguar’s first post-war sports car, succeeding the SS 100 which ceased production in 1940.

Jaguar’s stunning XK120 was a massively important car for both the marque and post-war Britain. Upon its introduction, the XK120 was the fastest car in the world and arguably the most beautiful. As a result, it put Jaguar firmly back on the map. After the model’s debut at the 1948 Earl’s Court Motor Show, one journalist commented, “All perceived notions as to what was a series-production sports car disappeared overnight.”

The Fixed Head Coupé entered production in 1951 as the second of three XK120 models, and it boasted perhaps the highest level of practicality out of the three styles. The addition of a hardtop not only protected its occupants from the weather, but it also added even more voluptuous curves to the already shapely body.

The XK120 set new standards of comfort, roadholding and performance for British sports cars and, in keeping with the Jaguar tradition, there was nothing to touch it at the price. Coupé and drophead coupé versions followed, and for customers who found the standard car too slow, there was the Special Equipment (SE) package, which boosted power to 180bhp. With either engine and regardless of the type of bodywork, the XK120 was a genuine 120mph car capable of sustained high-speed cruising.

ABOUT THIS SPECIFIC EXAMPLE

If only the best is good enough for you this is the right Jaguar XK 120!

This extremely beautiful presented original left-hand drive XK120 coupé left the factory on the 7th of March 1952 and was subsequently shipped to Charles Hornburg’s distributorship in Los Angeles, California.

The Jaguar was finished in this rare and very attractive Pastel Green metallic which was combined with the , beautifully complementing Suede Green interior.

The first owner was Mr. H E Bauer, an airline pilot who kept the car until 2010.

We found online that this car was parked in a garage since 1967. This has result in an exceptionally solid, unmolested and correct base for a restoration.

After emerging from over five decades of single ownership, it was subjected to a full body-off restoration by John Pollock Restorations of Reseda, California in 2012.

Jon Pollack performed an award-winning restoration on the car in its original color combination.
The restoration was painstakingly completed, and the original color was carefully duplicated using color matching to the original unfaded paint which was found under the tail lamp seals.

Pictures of the restoration show the body which was stripped down to bare metal, with anything deemed needing repair or replacement rectified with correct components.
The car has received several upgrades, including a five-speed gearbox, front disc brakes, a lightened flywheel, and an aluminium radiator (painted black) for greater performance and drivability in modern traffic.

When the Jaguar was finished from this extraordinary restoration, the car won the price for Best Jaguar at the Beverly Hills Concours d’Elegance.

After restoration the Jaguar was imported in 2015 to the United Kingdom and went to marque specialist J.D Classic.
As known in the market, the quality of J.D. Classic was extraordinary. Therefore they bought this car and sold it to a big collector.

During the UK ownership the Jaguar has been restored and maintained by J.D. Classics.

CONDITION EXTERIOR

This Jaguar XK 120 Fixed Head Coupe is most probably the nicest example we have ever traded. The earlier described restoration has been done on an extremely high level.

The body of the Jaguar shows impressively nice.
The body is superb straight and has wonderful fittings.

All chromeparts are excellent without any damages or signs of use.

The car is fitted with auxiliary fog lamps which make the looks of the car even more impressive.

From underneath (the chassis, as well as the wheel area’s) one can see that the Jaguar has undergone a very proper restoration and that the car has been very carefully used.

It’s clearly visible that this car is restored on a very high level. One would immediately believe us if we should say that the restoration has been finished last month.

CONDITION INTERIOR

The interior is equally nice as the exterior. The leather on the seats is excellent and the Seude Green leather seats fit the exterior color extremely well.

Inside the cabin everything is clean, neat and tidy. The interior is in excellent condition all round, as is the dash, steering wheel, instruments and controls.

All switches and instruments are in a perfect condition and have been all checked on functionality.

Even the trunk has been fully and period correct restored.

DRIVING EXPERIENCE

The handling and the performance of this Jaguar is perfect. We have owned for several years a Jaguar XK 140 which we used for rallies.
It was a dream car to drive. The power, the sound, the drivability was excellent.
This XK 120 gives the same feeling!

In other words, the car is not only fantastic to see, it is also a superb driver!

The sound from the exhaust is slightly louder which gives more fun.
The upgraded 5 speed gearbox and front disc brakes make this car the ultimate drivers XK.

The 5 speed gearbox is a more modern gearbox which reduces impressively the amount of revs on high speed.

The XK120 is one of the icons of the post-war British sports car world and think the XK120 is undeniably a classic that every enthusiast should have the opportunity to experience.

The powerful inline-6 is truly one of the motoring greats and will undoubtably provide its next owner with numerous thrilling miles.

This beautiful early XK120 Fixed Head Coupe would be a great entry to any number of historic rallies included the Mille Miglia.
